Rainer Mutsch is not unknown in the scene. The Austrian designer works for internationally renowned companies and culture institutions. His design studio was founded in 2008. Before that, Mutsch studied product design at the Design Skole Copenhagen and then got his degree in industrial design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, also known as "Angewandte", after studying with Professor Paolo Piva. He then gained work experience in Berlin. His design studio in Vienna is known for its formal and simple design and solution-oriented approaches which are supposed to serve human needs. The team is particularly enthusiastic about working with new technologies, manufacturing techniques and creative materials.
"Light design is a particularly exciting task. Shape, impact and technology are combined, each one in its own right - only in that case, at the end of the thinking process, you will get a good product, which catches the mood of the people. My team and I were able to achieve this with the luminaire series Arkade, a creation for LOUM. I was inspired by the cosy arcades you often see when strolling through Italian cities. The arch or the arcade, an element that offers both support and protection, conveys strength and creates space, is the basic shape of the Arkade luminaire," says designer Rainer Mutsch about his creative approach.
The luminaire series Arkade includes individual luminaires as well as a modular system for optically striking light creations. The smart combination of arches allows a variety of designs. Especially in the system version, Arkade achieves its potential to create space. Each arch of Arkade is equipped with state-of-the-art LED technology without glare, which makes it very pleasant. The wow-effect is guaranteed at home with a pleasant atmosphere, in a stylish hotel as well as in a cool bar.
